About the Job
Christopher’s Reason is seeking a Full-Time Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our OASAS-licensed 822 Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program. The LMHC will provide individual and group counseling to adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health needs as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, professional, and experienced in working with individuals with substance use and/or mental health concerns.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling.
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based counseling, including CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
- Address substance use, mental health, trauma, coping skills, relapse prevention, and life stressors.
- Monitor client progress and complete required clinical documentation.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed.
- Coordinate care and make appropriate referrals to medical, psychiatric, and community resources.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision.
- Collaborate with medical, clinical, and recovery staff to support client care.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
- Follow OASAS regulations, Christopher’s Reason policies, and program requirements.
- Participate in required trainings and quality improvement activities.
- Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
- Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or related field.
- Experience working with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based and trauma-informed counseling practices.
- Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
